Powell handmade Custom flutes have been the “gold standard” of the flute world for more than eight decades; instruments made in the 1920s are still being played today. Powell instruments are celebrated for their tone color, ease of response, and reliability. Today’s Custom flutes continue this tradition and are handmade to exacting specifications by Powell’s skilled artisans. Each instrument is both a highly functional tool and stunning work of art.
Less traditional but still highly prized, Grenadilla Wood flutes are constructed of carefully selected and aged grenadilla wood. They combine a sterling silver mechanism with 10k gold springs and Straubinger pads to create a one-of-a-kind instrument. 14k rose gold mechanism, inline or offset G key, split E mechanism, high E facilitator, C# trill key, and D# roller options are available. Lip and key engraving, C foot, and closed holes are available by special order only.
