Miyazawa Headjoints

Founded in 1969 by Masashi Miyazawa, Miyazawa’s goal was to create a better, more advanced instrument. With his background in the design and manufacture of professional flutes, Mr. Miyazawa successfully paired traditional craftsmanship with advanced technologies. This combination of old and new elements gave birth to an instrument that exceeded even his lofty expectations.

In the mid-seventies, Masashi Miyazawa and American flute maker P.L. West collaborated to tailor the Miyazawa flute to meet the needs of North American flutists. Their collaboration resulted in many innovations, including the creation of new alloys, the most comprehensive selection of headjoints, and the Miyazawa Improved Scale.

In 2005, Miyazawa introduced the Brögger System. Designed by famed flute maker Johan Brögger, the system features an innovative pinless mechanism, allowing precise adjustments and balance of each individual key, resulting in a more even, effortless feel for the flutist.

Today, Miyazawa flutes embody the highest standards of flute making.
