The newest member of the S.E. Shires Q Series is designed along with New York Philharmonic principal trombonist and S.E. Shires artist, Joseph Alessi.  The Alessi Q Series Alto Trombone features a 2-piece medium-weight bell and a unique bell tuning design that promotes projection while still maintaining a broad, warm sound with alto character.  This horn is particularly well suited for large ensemble settings, but still has the flexibility needed for solo work.  We've also found that this horn has excellent intonation for tenor players, which is typically tricky when switching over to alto.  

The Alessi Q Series Alto Trombone features the following specifications:

QAlessi Alto bell: 6.5-inch, two-piece, hand-hammered bell in medium-weight yellow brass with traditionally brazed seams, unsoldered bead, and bell tuning

 QAlessi Alto handslide: .485-.495-inch dual bore, gold brass; yellow-brass crook

Bell engraving: S.E. Shires makers mark, Alessi model designation, and traditional floral pattern

Includes Q Series trombone case, mouthpiece, and care kit

S.E. Shires General Limited Warranty What is covered? We are pleased to offer a limited warranty on all S.E. Shires brass instruments for the period of 2 years from the date of purchase, against defects in materials or workmanship. This warranty applies to the original purchaser only, and is valid when purchased from an authorized dealer. Conditions and Eligibility S.E. Shires will, at its discretion, repair or replace any item found to have been defective in materials or manufacture under the terms stated here. S.E. Shires Co. shall be the sole arbiter of eligibility for warranty repair or replacement To be eligible for warranty coverage, the original purchaser of the item must present the defective item, together with the original receipt of purchase, to the authorized dealer from which it was purchased. The dealer will then make all necessary arrangements with S.E. Shires for repair or replacement of the defective item. This eligibility is limited to the original owner. S.E. Shires Co. reserves the right to make changes to this warranty. Policies in place at the time of purchase will be honored. The purchaser must receive a Return Merchandise Authorization number prior to returning any instrument, component, or part to S.E. Shires. For warranty repairs approved within thirty days of purchase, a prepaid shipping label will be sent. Secure packing for the shipment of goods for warranty repair/replacement is always the sole responsibility of the owner. S.E. Shires will pay return charges for shipment back to the customer for approved warranty claims only. What is not covered? This warranty does not cover damage, deterioration, or malfunction due to accident, misuse, abuse, negligence, shipping, or improper handling; items that have been altered or on which the serial number has been modified, removed or defaced; normal wear and tear; periodic maintenance; conditions caused by perspiration, corrosive environment, or extremes in temperature or humidity. Any item submitted for warranty that is found ineligible will be given an estimate for repair, and work will only be performed at the customer's request. Cases This limited warranty applies only to original purchaser for the period of one year. Damage caused by either normal wear, or by misuse or neglect is not covered. S.E. Shires Co.'s liability is limited to the case only. Damage to instruments or other personal property being stored or transported in S.E. Shires cases is not covered by this or any other Eastman Music Company Warranty.
Returns Policy

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.


We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.

When you place an order, we will estimate shipping and delivery dates for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options you choose. Depending on the shipping provider you choose, shipping date estimates may appear on the shipping quotes page.

Please also note that the shipping rates for many items we sell are weight-based. The weight of any such item can be found on its detail page. To reflect the policies of the shipping companies we use, all weights will be rounded up to the next full pound.
