The year 2018 represents a milestone in the history of Vincent Bach. Having started his business in 1918, master craftsman Vincent Bach created a legacy with the introduction of the first Bach trumpets in 1924 and the addition of trombones to the Vincent Bach line around 1928. To celebrate a legacy lasting 100 years, Conn-Selmer and Vincent Bach proudly present the new 42BOFG Centennial trombone.
The 42 Centennial line offers a number of different bell and slide options. The current favorite in the shop features a .547" bore light-weight nickel silver handslide, 8 1/2" light-weight gold brass bell and the Meinl-Schmidt Open-Flow valve. We find this combination to provide a very different sound then most Bach setups. The Open-Flow valve provides a bit more resistance then other Bach valve offerings but is very stable and responds easily. Combined with with light-weight gold brass bell it has a rich sound (more reminiscent of European instruments) with a wide core and a beautiful weight to the outside of the sound. With the available 50LW slide option the sound and response open up more and offer a wide, clear sound with a lot of forward projection and control at upper dynamics; a great choice for serious orchestral players!
