The Trudel mouthpiece is truly special.
The Alain Trudel silver-plated Replica Series mouthpiece's wide inner rim size and open throat allow a warm, broad sound even at fortissimo. Well-suited to orchestral and solo use, the Trudel mouthpiece has a deep cup and special rim contour for the sound and feeling of a much bigger mouthpiece, yet still has the secure, well-centered high range usually only possible with a smaller mouthpiece. It feels wide for comfort, but it's not a chop buster. Fairly thick rim for endurance. U-shaped deep cup with a v-shape going into the throat for a smooth, dark free-blowing tone with great overtones.
Alain Trudel is a true virtuoso who has been called the best trombonist in the world. He combines his humor and flair for drama with immense talent to delight audiences worldwide. He began playing with the Montreal Symphony at 16, and today he performs as a solo artist at as many as 100 recitals per year. He is an accomplished jazz and contemporary musician.
Yamaha's Replica Series mouthpieces come after year of collaborating with hundreds of the world's best players at their R&D Ateliers. These players were unsatisfied with the commercial models out there and knew the Yamaha technicians would deliver exactly the tone and response they wanted. The demand for these mouthpieces has grown, so Yamaha decided to offer a select lineup. Each Replica Series mouthpiece is produced on a precise, computer-controlled lathe to guarantee each one is exactly the same as the one used by its namesake.
