Trombone Mutes

Designed and overseen by David Rejano (Principal Trombone, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra), Rejano Mutes set out to solve issues that plague traditional practice mutes, such as a heavy weight, unstable pitch, excessive resistance and insufficient muting.

The innovative 3D printed designs weigh only 4 ounces for tenor trombone and 8 ounces for bass trombone, allowing longer practice sessions.  Rejano mutes are made from durable materials, including a cork alternative that won't break down as quickly. These mutes offer a resistance that mimics the feel of playing without a mute in addition to a stable pitch.

Rejano Mutes are manufactured in California.

I should have bought this mute much earlier. I've tried Sshhsh, Pampet and Protec. None of them come close to the Rejano. These other brands, although a bit smaller and lighter all have different amounts of back pressure and strange impacts on tune/tone. The Rejano isn't quite perfect but it blows these other practice mutes away in my view. I'm finding I can blow much louder through the Rejano without cracking notes andI don't keep feeling like I need to tune up. My view? This isn't the time to cheap out - watch the video here at Schmitt and make the investment in a mute that will get you closer to reality than any of the others. I'm not a pro - I just huff out the low tones in a community band, and the pros might have something additional to say but for me - this one gets it done.
